Grace and Cerys juggle their passions with the demands of their condition cystic fibrosis.

Take a Breath follows the stories of Grace and Cerys as they juggle their passions - for running and music - with the demands of their serious lung condition cystic fibrosis. 

Twelve-year-old Grace is competing in the most important race of her life - the Brighton Mini Mile 2015 - while 11-year-old Cerys is performing with her band and orchestra at a concert in Northampton and also preparing for her trombone music exam. Cerys is facing the additional challenge of taking more responsibility for her own medications.

The girls have their work cut out as they search for success, but they face more obstacles than most as they fight to stay healthy.

Despite having to contend with hospital admissions, operations and constant pain while running, we follow Grace as she embarks on an intensive training regime. In the build-up to the race, she tells her running partner Betty about her condition for the first time. She also meets Olympian Jo Pavey before running the race of her life - coming third with her best ever time. 

Cerys, meanwhile, is off to hospital for her regular clinic where she scores her highest ever lung function result. It's great news as she can now focus on her next big step, which is to master her own medicines at the concert. She calls on her best friend Evie for support. 

The concert is quickly followed by a nerve-wracking Grade 5 trombone exam, which Cerys passes with her highest ever mark and is awarded a distinction.
