An abridgement of Friend or Foe by Michael Morpurgo. The story is a classic tale of secrecy and adventure set during World War Two. David Carey and his friend Tucky, two boys from London, are evacuated to the Devon countryside. As they adjust to their new life away from the city, one night the skyline of the moor is lit up with gun flashes and the memory of war threatens to shatter their new-found peace.

The boys are seen by an RAF spotter plane while delivering food to the German airmen

While on the moor delivering food and blankets to the Germans, the boys are spotted by an RAF spotter plane surveying the moor. They wave to the plane, and luckily it doesn’t spot the Germans in their makeshift hiding place. The boys convince the Germans it’s a coincidence and they haven’t given them away. The Germans ask for one more delivery of food and then promise they won’t ask for anything more, but will try to cross the moor to the sea and escape back to Germany. Reluctantly the boys agree. Will they get away with it a second time?
