Carrie and her younger brother Nick are evacuated to Wales to spend the war years with the dour Mr Evans and his sister 'Auntie' Lou. Carrie and Nick spend much of their time at 'Druid's Bottom' - a mysterious house where Hepzibah, the housekeeper, tells them strange stories about skulls and curses. Carrie and Nick settle into their new lives...and then Carrie does something she’ll regret for years to come.

Winter arrives and Carrie and Nick make their first visit to 'Druid's Bottom'

Winter arrives and Carrie and Nick are sent to the old house in the valley to collect the Christmas goose. They hear scary noises and run down towards the lights of the old house.

The episode starts with a visit from Carrie and Nick’s mother. Carrie is worried that Nick will say he hates Mr Evans, but he doesn’t. Winter arrives and Carrie and Nick are sent to the old house in the valley - Druid’s Bottom - to collect the Christmas goose. They walk through the yew trees and hear scary noises.  They run down towards the lights of the old house...
