Talks continue to try to find a deal at the climate change conference  in Paris. Many of the nations most vulnerable to climate change want to limit warming to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius over pre-Industrial Revolution levels. The President of the island nation of Kiribati, Anote Tong, has told Newsday that he wants a legally binding agreement to conclude the talks.

The Afghan government says its forces have killed the last of a group of Taliban fighters who attacked Kandahar airport. Fifty people died in more than twenty-four hours of fighting, most of them were civilians.

Russian air strikes in Syria have bolstered President Bashar Al Assad and forced Western leaders to sit down and talk to Vladimir Putin. The BBC's Steve Rosenberg reveals the Kremlin leader's knack of extricating himself from the most difficult situations.
