Scott Mills talks to members of the EastEnders cast, before hearing from young people who have experienced the soap's storylines in real life.

We expect the life of a soap character to be full of drama, but what about those who actually go through what we see on screen?

As EastEnders turns 30, we look back at some of the biggest stories from the past 12 months, with Scott Mills speaking to the young actors and actresses behind the issues of stillbirth, depression, epilepsy and coming out. We find out how the cast members prepared for their storylines and what they learned in the process.

We then hear from young people who have faced these challenges in real life. Scott asks about the realities of the soap storylines and what advice they'd give to their counterparts on screen.
