Ian Rankin discusses Even Dogs in the Wild, his new novel, the 20th featuring detective John Rebus, and the first book he wrote after talking a year's rest from writing.

Composer Howard Blake's most famous work is the soundtrack to the now- Christmas classic, The Snowman. He'll be in conversation with Janice as he arrives in Edinburgh for two premiere performances of an animated film based on a song-cycle of poems by Robert Louis Stevenson, The Land of Counterpane, originally set to music by Howard in 1993.

Talking of Robert Louis Stevenson, Janice's Book Group has been reading Stevenson's story, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Ian Rankin and writer and critic Doug Johnston join Janice to share their thoughts on this classic text. Contribute your thoughts at janicebookgroup@bbc.co.uk.
