Amateur cooking competition. Three home cooks are pitted against each other as they try to make dishes using the ingredient boxes put together by Valentine Warner.

Three enthusiastic home cooks are pitted against each other as they try to make a delicious dish using the day's ingredient boxes. The first test is to create something from a box put together by chef and cookery writer Valentine Warner.

In the second challenge, James Martin selects the ingredients to go into three new boxes. They have to choose between a basic box, a global box and a fish box. Based on the dishes from this second test, James decides who triumphs and wins Cook of the Day!
