The pupils of a primary school compete to be elected as head teacher. Everyone in Year 6 puts themselves up as a candidate.

To celebrate 800 years of democracy and the signing of Magna Carta, one UK primary school puts democracy to the test as their gutsiest pupils enter an election race to become head teacher. In fierce competition with one another, they campaign for the most votes from their peers. The prize: the reins of the school for a whole week.

As their powerless teachers watch on from the staffroom, will the pupils go for obvious vote winners or will they manage to implement changes that form a legacy beyond their time in control, policies that would make even the head teacher put a cross on the ballot paper?

With great power comes great responsibility, so how will they do after election day when they actually have to deliver on the policies they've promised and do they really work?

Stacey Dooley breaks it to the pupils of a London primary school that they will be holding an election to find a brand new head teacher and the person that will take the top job will be one of their very own Year 6 pupils. Everyone in Year 6 puts themselves up as a candidate and by the end of the show three will be chosen by their fellow classmates. They will stand in the final election at the end of the series when the whole school, including the teachers, will vote for the new head teacher. The pupils receive a surprise visit from Wolfblood's Bobby Lockwood, who offers some great advice for winning votes, and the three final candidates are inspired to win after visiting Downing Street and seeing for themselves where the prime minister lives and works.
