Is the world governing body of netball right not to promote the men's and mixed game?

Netball is most unusual in sport. It is one of very few sports where men and women directly compete against each other. The Australian men’s national team regularly plays the women’s national team, and in the Southern Hemisphere men’s and mixed netball continues to grow. So why did Molly Rhone, head of netball’s world governing body say “The International Federation does not promote Netball as a men’s game, and I make no apologies for it.” Ahead of the men’s and mixed netball championships in Australia we bring the two sides together

Seven Nations Rugby?
Which international rugby team holds the record for consecutive victories? New Zealand? No, nor Australia, Wales or England! That honour is held by Cyprus. Austin Halewood joins the world record holders as they prepare for this weekend’s game against Hungary.

Fighting for Hollioake Remembrance

The fight comes in the week of the 13th anniversary of the death of his brother Ben, who died in a car crash in 2002.

Sportswear giants Nike have given a sponsorship deal to American sprinter Justin Gatlin, who has twice been banned for the use of illegal substances. Some say it's an inspiring story of redemption, to others it sends out the wrong message about cheating in sport. We explore the different attitudes to this and the role sports marketing has in shaping our view of sports stars.

Hamilton’s New Motoring Challenge
Nicolas Hamilton announced this week he is set to compete in this season's British Touring Car Championship. He will become the first person with cerebral palsy to take part in the competition... He’s also hoping to become the second driving champion in his family. His brother Lewis drives quite fast too! 

Sporting Witness 
In 2003, neighbours Rwanda and Uganda played one of the most notorious games in the history of African football. Ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, relations between the two governments were tense and the atmosphere duly spilled onto the pitch. The match featured amazing saves, accusations of 'witchcraft', a mass brawl and a goal that made history.
