Robert Murray and James Baillieu join the Heath Quartet to explore love and death in music

The Heath Quartet, Robert Murray and James Baillieu explore love and death in music. Schumann: Liederkreis, Op 24. Szymanowski: Roxana's Song (King Roger). Zemlinsky: Piano Trio.

Tenor Robert Murray and pianist James Baillieu perform Schumann's Liederkreis, setting poems by Henrich Heine, written relatively early in his 'year of song' in 1840. 50 years later, Zemlinsky's Piano Trio was heavily influenced by Schumann's close friend Brahms. Members of the Heath quartet perform this youthful and passionate work. Also, an arrangement of Roxana's Song from Szymanowski's rarely performed mystical opera King Roger, with Heath Quartet violinist Cerys Jones and pianist James Baillieu.
