Stephan Grappelli and Django Reinhardt are included in our birthday list and we mark the death of Ward Swingle with a track from the Swingle Singers. There's a superb story this week of the night that Dave Newton agreed to deputise at a Malvern Jazz Club when their regular pianist was delayed from a trip abroad due to industrial action. Plus there's music from Alex Welsh with two trombonists, George Chisholm and Roy Crimmins. Duke Ellington features Juan Tizol and the Anglo American Alliance perform a song from 1929, forty years later!
