Celebrating the Commonwealth Games, Friday Night gets set to perform This is the Moment.

A sporting gala first broadcast for the Commonwealth Games. Medal-winning athletes and star singers join Ken Bruce and Garry Richardson with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

Friday Night Is Music Night presents a special gala originally broadcast for the Commonwealth Games, recorded at the City Halls in Glasgow. With the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Richard Balcombe. Presented by Ken Bruce and Garry Richardson from Radio 4's Today programme and BBC Sport, the concert features music that's guaranteed to put you in a medal winning mood. With star singers John Owen Jones (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables) and Gloria Onitiri (The Bodyguard and The Lion King) and medal winning guests Colin Jackson, Jonathan Edwards, Steve Cram and Matthew Pinsent. Music includes 'This is The Moment', Go the Distance, One Moment in Time, The Natural, I Will Survive, Search for the Hero, We Are the Champions together with famous sporting themes 'Rocky', 'Champions', 'Chariots of Fire' and a world premiere - Rimsky Korsakov's Flight of the Bumble Bee for Symphony orchestra and exercise bike !

Programme first broadcast 25th July 2014 as part of the BBC's coverage of the Commonwealth Games.
