The eurozone economy is in trouble - deflation appears to be taking hold. Will the European Central Bank (ECB) follow in the footsteps of Japan and the US, and introduce a policy of quantitative easing? In other words buying lots of debt on financial markets in order to breathe new life into the economy. Jan Randolph, director of sovereign risk at IHS Global Insight in London, explains why German ECB board members are against the idea, equating it with central bankers "acting like fairy godmothers, creating value out of thin air."
