Ben and Molly M are in awe when they discover their own ancestors role in the war.

Six young singer-songwriters prepare for a historical performance. Gareth sets the kids the challenge of writing a morale-boosting, upbeat song for singer Eliza Dolittle.

Choirmaster Gareth Malone is back, this time with a Big Performance of historical significance. Six of the UK's most talented young singer-songwriters have been chosen to represent the nation at a World War I centenary event. All six young musicians will write a song as a tribute to mark the occasion, but only one will be chosen by Gareth for the group to perform together on the big day.

The six singers hit a major stumbling block last episode, after forgetting the words and melody to their own song in front of Conor Maynard. With just three weeks to go until their big performance at the World War I commemorations, Gareth wants to ensure this doesn't happen with the world watching.

He sets the kids the challenge of writing a morale-boosting, upbeat song for super star singer Eliza Dolittle. Using her version of the World War I song Pack up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag as inspiration, will they find a successful and catchy tune that lifts their spirits, as well as impressing Eliza Dolittle?  

The six young songwriters must also spend time on getting the right tone for their commemorative songs, as only one will be chosen. A trip to the King's Troops Royal Horse Artillery, who were formed to honour the role of horses in WWI, has a big impact and Ben and Molly M are in awe when they discover their own ancestors role in the war. Will their new found knowledge inspire their writing and how will Ben and Molly's songs go down in front of one of the toughest crowds yet: the troops themselves?

Back at HQ, Gareth's plan to get the kids dancing needs serious work, as the two soloist's styles are polar opposites - Ben can't keep still and Molly doesn't move an inch whilst singing. Can he get them performing in harmony in time?
