A woman has an affair and realises that her life has been running on autopilot for years.

More than 20 years after leaving her native Russia behind to marry a wealthy man, a mother (Tilda Swinton) embarks on a passionate and dangerous affair with a young man.

A Russian woman who married into a family of wealthy Milanese industrialists starts an affair with a cook and suddenly awakens to the fact that her life has been running on autopilot for years.
