What is it like to be in the thick of things as change sweeps a country? Kevin Connolly asks where three years of political ferment, constitutional debate and economic fluctuation have left Cairo and its residents. He wonders whether lamb carcasses and donkey carts can be considered positive signs for Egypt. 

And, Vladimir Hernandez visits his home country, Venezuela, most years - but says he has rarely seen its politics as polarised as they are now. He gauges the mood on the barricades (and in the government offices) of Caracas.
