G8 ministers meeting in London have committed to developing a cure for dementia by 2025

G8 ministers meeting in London have committed to developing a cure for dementia by 2025. And, should Britain and the US continue the policy of quantitative easing?

Dementia has been described as a “global disaster waiting to happen” and looking after sufferers currently costs economies more than $600 billion a year. The number of people with the condition is expected to rise from 44 million today to 135 million by 2050. But at a summit in London, G8 ministers have committed to developing a cure by the middle of the next decade. 

Also should Britain and the US continue the policy of quantitative easing to stimulate their economies? And, Simon Tulett reports from Rome on a controversial new tourist tax being introduced by some cash-strapped European cities.
