The series meeting the everyday heroes who keep Britain safe through each passing season looks at the challenges brought by the most extreme season of the year, winter.

Julia Bradbury and Matt Allwright follow the paramedics of the Scottish Ambulance Service as they deal with new year and the country's biggest street party, the RAF search and rescue teams as they work in the most remote wilderness in Britain, and the teams who keep the roads moving through the cold and darkness.
