BBC One - Remembrance Week, Series 4, Special

Special programme to commemorate Remembrance Sunday, featuring extraordinary stories.

To commemorate Remembrance Sunday, this special programme features extraordinary stories based on first-person testimonies of people who have served in the UK's armed forces.

Remembrance Sunday is the day we remember all those who have suffered or died in past conflicts around the world. To recognise this national occasion, The BBC has been showing a week of programmes based around the first-person testimonies of some of those who have served in the United Kingdom's armed forces. 

This special edition of Remembrance Week features a collection of the most extraordinary stories from across the week. We follow a World War II veteran as he makes an emotional return to the beach in Normandy where he and his comrades landed in 1944. A British pilot describes how he thought he might never see his wife and children again when he was captured and tortured during the First Gulf War. In Wales, a heart-broken young woman describes the loss of her partner in Afghanistan.
