Esther W believes her silence was responsible for the 1991 Orkney child abuse scandal. Over 20 years on from the events, she speaks to Craig Anderson about why she kept quiet.

It was an extraordinary story which brought worldwide coverage and reporters streaming to South Ronaldsay in Orkney. In 1991, 9 children were removed from their 4 families following allegations of satanic sexual abuse. The allegations proved completely unfounded and the children were returned home 5 weeks later. One child, now woman, Esther, who came from the infamous 'W' family at the centre of the scandal, believes if she'd only spoken out at the time none of it would have happened. In this very open and honest conversation with reporter Craig Anderson, Esther W speaks out about why she kept silent and how she's finally come to terms with the events of her childhood.
