Louise White asks: how welcoming is Scotland to disabled people?

Louise White sits in for Kaye Adams and asks how straightforward it is for a disabled person to travel around Scotland and gg to events and attractions.

Nino Zavaroni, a 17 year old boy from Rothesay with Cerebral Palsy, has called on Scotrail to change their policy which asks disabled passengers to book assistance 24 hours in advance, after he experienced difficulties in boarding a train because he'd not booked a ramp.

Also Tourism Minister Fergus Ewing and Visit Scotland have been promoting an "accessible tourism" programme before the Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup and the Year of Homecoming 2014. The programme offers online training and guidance on how to advertise the access facilities of services like tourist attractions and hotels. Fergus Ewing believes that making tourist services more accessible to disabled people, young children and elderly people could generate £325 million a year for the economy.
