News broke last week that ancient manuscripts believed to provide some of the earliest written accounts of African history had been destroyed by Islamist groups in Timbuktu. It later emerged that this may not be the case. We find out the latest on the story, and why these documents are so precious and irreplaceable.

Also, an intriguing dance to celebrate the life of the first female wireless operator sent to Nazi-occupied France. We hear about NOOR, from Sasha Spielvogel, Artistic Director of Labyrinth Dance Theatre, which makes its way to Edinburgh.

And peace campaigner Colin Parry lost his son Tim in the 1993 Warrington bombing. He explains to Richard why violence is never the answer.
