The president who’s everywhere and nowhere, plus stories about learning English in India, and Italy's love of meat. Presented by Pascale Harter.

He’s both everywhere and nowhere to be found. Hugo Chavez has been recovering from cancer treatment in Cuba. But his failure to attend his inauguration has prompted questions from opposition politicians in Venezuela. Will Grant was recently in Caracas, where he found the situation confusing, but the president’s supporters defiant. 

Also on the programme, stories about an Indian swami who thrilled America, and about the best thing Britain brought to India. It’s not cricket, or the railways – but did Rahul Tandon and his friends eventually agree on.

Plus a pair of stories from Italy. Alan Johnston reports on the mystery surrounding the body of Giuseppe Garibaldi, one of the founders of modern Italy. And Dany Mitzman has settled in a region where pork is consumed in vast quantities.  There’s only one problem – she doesn’t eat meat.
