Programme 1 of Something to Think About…with Mr Bloom.

We learn about what we can do for our friends. Helping friends without them knowing and without expecting anything in return, the idea of being a ‘secret’ friend.

Mr Bloom has noticed that slugs have been eating his herbs and vegetables in the garden. Hedgehogs have been eating the slugs. This is the way of the garden. Hedgehogs are often known as ‘garden helpers’. Mr Bloom calls them his ‘secret friends’.
In this episode we visit some Tiddlers at their school and hear all about their ‘friendship stop’.

To celebrate the pan-BBC Summer of UK Wildlife season, we have made a special summer series of Something to Think About. Each programme is presented throughout by Mr Bloom from the CBeebies television show Mr Bloom’s Nursery and encourages children to explore and reflect on life-lessons through gardening and wildlife themes.

Stories are inspired by the Mr Bloom’s Nursery TV shows, are told by Mr Bloom and feature the colourful Veggie characters. For those of you unfamiliar with the series, there is a ‘Who’s who?’ guide to the characters in the Teacher's Notes.

Something to Think About…with Mr Bloom offers all the traditional features of the Something to Think About programmes you know and love. Songs are from the Come and Praise and All About our School collections and at the end of each programme there is an opportunity to give thanks and to reflect on the themes explored in the show.
