BBC One - The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Drama about the love life of a Czech surgeon before and after the Soviet invasion of 1968.

Romantic drama. Following the Soviet invasion of his country in 1968, Czech surgeon Tomas (Daniel Day-Lewis) is forced to flee to Switzerland, with his wife and mistress in tow.

Adaptation of Milan Kundera's 1984 bestseller. Tomas, a womanising Czech doctor, meets the waif-like Tereza and falls in love. Despite marrying her, he continues his dissolute lifestyle with his mistress Sabina - but after the Soviet invasion of Prague, all three are forced to flee to Switzerland together.
