The Red Cross says it's civil war in Syria, and the first woman to lead the African Union.

The Red Cross says it's civil war in Syria, Madonna's offended the French National Front and we find out about the first woman to be elected to lead the African Union.

The Red Cross has said that the fighting in Syria is so widespread that it's in effect a civil war, meaning that those involved in the fighting are much more likely to be prosecuted for war crimes. In the next forty eight hours, Kofi Annan, UN Special Envoy to Syria, is travelling to Russia to meet President Putin.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has just left Egypt after a 48 hour visit, during which she held talks with new President 

Mohamed Morsi and the man in charge of the current military regime, Field Marshal Tantawi. 

For the first time a woman is leading the African Union. 

We look at the fallout in France where the singer Madonna has offended the National Front leader Marine le Pen. 
At least 25 people have been killed by flooding in Japan.
