Communities in the Western Isles losing their phone and broadband, war memorials destroyed, brass bands left without instruments and an historic plaque taken from the top of a hill on Colonsay. 

Recent news has been full of examples of metal theft; and just last week the Scottish Government together with the police launched a new campaign, 'Cut Out Metal Theft', along with a commitment to bring in licensing for hundreds of small and independent metal dealers.
