Who has inspired our leading artists? Plus the brand new Scottish Album of the Year award.

The Culture Cafe looks forward to Scotland Inspired, a new series in which leading artists reveal what has inspired them, building up a family history of the arts in Scotland.

In anticipation of 'Scotland Inspired' on BBC Radio Scotland, we preview the new series in which our leading contemporary artists divulge who and what has inspired them, building up a family history of the arts in Scotland - with Bryan Beattie, Janice Kirkpatrick & Malcolm Fraser. 

Mal Birkinshaw, head of fashion at Edinburgh College of Art, explains how the students there are leading the way in breaking down barriers and bringing diversity to the catwalk. 

We find out who has made it onto the long list of the ambitious new national prize, The Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award - with Stewart Henderson and Vic Galloway.

And Kurt Jackson, artist in residence at the Glastonbury Festival, tells us how Arran inspired his new exhibition, The Catacol Series, and chats about his deep connection to Scotland.
