Dotty, the school guinea pig, escapes while Julian is supposed to be looking after her.

Aided by his trusty cat Jess, Postman Pat always manages to deliver the mail, no matter what. Dotty, the school guinea pig, has escaped.

Julian is thrilled when he's picked to bring home Dotty, the school guinea pig. The next morning he's distressed to discover that Dotty has escaped. Pat offers to look for her whilst he's on his rounds. 

All day long Pat keeps seeing strange things. First Mrs Goggins's knitting seems to move on its own, then Julia Pottage's old fur hat runs off down the path by itself and finally the station cafe tea cosy jumps off the table and runs out of the door. Pat is convinced that he's seeing things but Jess knows better. It's naughty Dotty who has been trying to find a cosy nest all day and has been hitching a lift in Pat's van.
