Minnie Driver discusses her role in Hunky Dory, and author and screenwriter Louis de Bernieres discusses Red Dog, a heart-warming Australian story based on real events.

Minnie Driver -discusses her role in Hunky Dory; set in the long hot British summer of 1976, she plays 'Viv' who has left London and her thespian aspirations, to work as a drama teacher in the local high school of her South Wales home town. She is determined to fire up her hormonal, apathetic teenage charges and she sets about staging a rock musical based on Shakespeare's The Tempest for the school's end of year show. We also review the film with with Film critic Paul Gallagher.

The world famous author and screenwriter, most famous for Captain Corelli's Mandolin (1994), discusses his heart-warmingly popular Australian film 'RED DOG' Based on the legendary true story of the Red Dog who united a disparate local community while roaming the Australian outback in search of his long lost master. 


City Girl/ Sunrise - With the phenomenal success at the Box Office, and at The Oscars, of The Artist, everyone is talking about a silent film revival. We review and discuss two classic films from F. W. Murnau - Sunrise (1927) and City Girl (1929) - major inspirations for Michel Hazanavicius' writing and creation of The Artist (2011). Amongst the last of the sophisticated silent movie utopia classics, Sunrise won 3 Academy Awards in 1927 and was voted one of the 10 greatest films ever made in the hugely influential once-a-decade Sight & Sound film critic's poll in 2002.
