Featuring a review of Alexander Payne's The Descendants, which stars George Clooney and is widely-tipped for Oscar glory.

The Descendants - We review the latest film from Alexander Payne, the creator of the Oscar-winning , Sideways. Set in Hawaii, The Descendants is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki.

Two Lane Blacktop - Film Lecturer, Pasquale Iannone discusses one of the greatest cult films of the 1970's - Monte Hellman's iconic road movie Two Lane Blacktop.(out on Blu-Ray this week.) 

A Bigger Splash- Jack Hazan - The BFI's first DVD release of 2012 will be A Bigger Splash (1974), a 'structured reality' film featuring artist David Hockney. In the early 1970s, director Jack Hazan (The Clash: Rude Boy) gained intimate access to David Hockney and his circle of friends and lovers. Using a structured reality format rather than pure documentary, he crafted this mesmerising film, groundbreaking in style (way ahead of the current explosion in this format) and daring in nature.

'DRIVE' is our DVD pick of the week, and the Movie Café's Ian Boffey discusses the film with director Nicholas Winding Refn - 'DRIVE' is the story of a Hollywood stunt driver by day (RYAN GOSLING), who moonlights as a top-notch getaway driver-for-hire in the criminal underworld.
