Lulu is a fun-loving tortoise who, with her friends Hugo the hare, Freddy and Freda the ferrets, Hattie the owl, Barry the badger and Spike the hedgehog, goes on adventures and discovers more about nature and the world around her. 

For the school party, Lulu has written a very pretty poem about nature. The teacher suggests that the group make up an orchestra and set the poem to music. The friends are enthusiastic, but quickly realise that it is not so easy to be in tune.
