The trumpeter Shorty Rogers was one of the founders of the West Coast "cool" school of jazz, following a varied apprenticeship in the big bands of Woody Herman and Stan Kenton. Back in 1992, Alyn Shipton interviewed Shorty at length about his recording career, and this archive interview with the man himself is the backdrop to tonight's Jazz Library.
