John Hurt - A special interview from the Dinard 'Festival du Film Britannique', with this year's special 'guest of honour', the inimitable John Hurt. From a demented Caligula to a mauve-quiffed Quentin Crisp and a disfigured Elephant Man, John Hurt's extraordinary talent has been to find the human truth at the heart of a character. (He has also been making some important films lately - including Lars von Triers Melancholia and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.) The Movie Café's Amanda Hargreaves sat down with the great man to discuss it all.

Our DVD Pick of the Week is Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence - Written by Nagisa Ôshima, starring David Bowie, Tom Conti and Ryûichi Sakamoto. It's set in 1942 when British soldier Jack Celliers (David Bowie) comes to a Japanese prison camp. The camp is run by Yonoi (Ryûichi Sakamoto), who has a firm belief in discipline, honour and glory. In Yonoi's view, the allied prisoners are all cowards after choosing to surrender in the war instead of committing suicide. 

Harry Connick, Jr. discusses his role in DOLPHIN TALE' -inspired by the amazing true story of a brave dolphin and the compassionate strangers who banded together to save her life.
