Tim Franks talks to Dr Swee Ang, founder of the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians, and asks, should charities try and rise above the conflicts in which they operate?

Swee Ang is a doctor with a difference. In 1982 she was working in Lebanon, in the Palestinian refugee camps of Sabra and Shatila, just as hundreds - possibly thousands - of residents were being massacred by Lebanese militia. Out of that horror, Dr Swee founded a charity, Medical Aid for Palestinians. 

Nearly three decades on, its work continues in Lebanon and the Occupied Territories adjoining Israel. HARDtalk's Tim Franks asks, should charities try and rise above the conflicts in which they operate? Or are they themselves political actors?
