Known as 'Dishy Des' in the tabloid press, Bryan Cooney gets behind the headlines and meets the real Des Lynam.

For over twenty years Des Lynam was the BBC's main sports anchorman presenting Grandstand and Match of the Day along with major sporting events including the Olympic Games, Wimbledon and the Grand National.

Born in Ennis in County Clare Des was able to turn his passion for sport into a long career behind the microphone and in front of the camera. 

Talking to Bryan Cooney about his passion for sport Des talks about his dealings with Sir Alex Ferguson, a confrontation with Brian Clough and reveals his love of stand-up comedy.
