Join Mark Stephen and Euan McIlwraith as they explore the history of salmon fishing on the Clyde and examine the royal connections to our outdoors.

The Out of Doors team brings you two special programmes.

Firstly, the team looks at the history of salmon fishing on the Clyde. 

We hear how the fish on the crest of Glasgow is actually based on a story of a Queen's adultery.

We discover more about the life cycle of the salmon and why catches around Scotland have been so high the past couple of years.

Plus Euan McIlwraith takes a trip with the water bailiffs.

And to tie in with the Royal Wedding we look at the connections between the Scottish outdoors and our kings and queens.

Helen Needham visits Dunadd in Argyll, where our ancient kings were crowned.

Mark Stephen climbs Dunsinane Hill in Perthshire to discuss the Shakespeare line "Macbeth shall never vanquish'd be until Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill shall come against him".

Euan McIlwraith takes a trip across the Forth between South and North Queensferry, which are named after Queen Margaret.

We visit Melrose Abbey, where the heart of King Robert the Bruce is buried.

We take a trip around Holyrood Park to hear about David I and Holyrood Abbey.

Euan goes walking in the footsteps of Queen Victoria at Balmoral.

And Mark takes a trip out to Loch Leven Castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots was once imprisoned.
