Viz magazine co-founder Simon Donald talks to the Comedy Cafe about the cultural impact of Viz and why character comedy remains in his blood.

Finbarr Saunders, Sid the Sexist, Johnny Fartpants... Viz magazine's colourful cast of non-pc characters struck an anti-establishment chord at a time when Britain experienced the birth of alternative comedy. Several decades on and co-founder Simon Donald has left the publication to pursue a career in stand-up. He talks to the Comedy Café about the cultural impact of Viz and why character comedy remains in his blood. 

In the age of the celebrity memoir author and journalist, Bill Coles, provides a much needed antidote in the form of the 'spovel'. He shares the secrets of writing the perfect spoof novel with his latest fictional account of one of the world's most famous - and vainest - men in "Simon Cowell: The Sex-Factor". 

Swapping eyeliner for one-liners Miss Scotland finalists have taken a comedy master-class in a bid to improve their stage presence prior to the competition finals in June. We hear how they got on and ask their tutor, stand-up and comedy lecturer Viv Gee, whether pretty girls can be funny.
