Newsround's Ore Oduba journeys to the Helmand province in Afghanistan.

Newsround's Ore Oduba journeys to the Helmand province in Afghanistan, to find out why British troops are stationed there and what they are doing in the country.

In late 2010, Newsround travelled to the Afghan capital Kabul to find out what it was like to grow up in a country scarred by war. 

Now, Newsround's Ore Oduba has journeyed to the heart of the warzone - the southern province of Helmand, where British troops are stationed along with the Americans - to find out why we are there, and what we are doing in the country. 

In this film, Ore experiences life in the main British base of Lashkar Gah, from the dangers faced out on patrol to the incredible difficulties faced when soldiers lose their friends in combat - and he explains the fascinating history of one of the key military engagements of our times.
