As Japan comes to terms with one of the worst earthquakes in its history, Hugh Levinson considers how a fear of natural disasters is woven into the fabric of Japanese culture. Andrew Harding sees battles on the streets of Abidjan as the political struggle in Ivory Coast intensifies. Following uprisings across North Africa and the Middle East, John Simpson has been considering how the foreign media can influence the revolutions they report.
