Janice Forsyth finds out from sitcom writer Dave Cohen why great comedy should have the power to make us cry.

Does Channel 4's "10 O'Clock Live" show put the bite back into British satire? Having written for topical shows such as 'News Quiz', 'Spitting Image' and 'Have I Got News for You', Dave Cohen gives a critical review.

Does comedy always have to be funny? When not working on topical satire, Dave is a contributing writer on sitcoms such as BBC1's 'Not Going Out' and 'My Family'. But amidst all the laughter he's afraid we've misplaced the magical comedy ingredient that is pathos. He champions the power great comedy has to make us cry.
