Gareth Malone puts ten shy singers through their paces. The gang try out show tunes, with top tips from the best entertainers in the industry. Chloe tries out for the solo spot.

Ten shy children who love to sing but are terrified of performing in public are put through their paces by choirmaster extraordinaire Gareth Malone. Having already worked his magic on a tone-deaf town, reluctant schoolboys and wayward teenagers, Gareth attempts to build the youngsters' fragile confidence and turn them into singing stars capable of performing in front of a massive crowd - 40,000 people at London's Proms in the Park.

The Big Performance tour bus and its ten shy singers head to the entertainment resort of Butlins, in the seaside town of Minehead. Gareth chooses the musical style of show tunes to explore, and with top tips from some of the best entertainers in the industry, his young singers attempt 'If I only had a heart' from the well-known musical The Wizard of Oz.  

It's Chloe's turn to try out for the coveted solo spot, as she takes on the role of Dorothy. Her nerves are tested to the limit as she is challenged to sing in front of the coolest boys from her school, and she gets first-hand advice from a real-life Dorothy, all in a bid to boost her confidence. 

The final performance is a big ask for the group - to sing in front of their first ever professional audience. They need to up their game with a little more razzle dazzle - a tough call for the normally timid group. Will they be able to pull off a performance good enough to impress the Redcoats, and how will Gareth rate Chloe's chances of becoming the soloist at Proms in the Park?
