A half hour interview with interesting and prominent people from around the world with a great range of interests and opinions. Each week, one person is put under the spotlight by either Owen Bennett-Jones or Carrie Gracie, the two presenters on The Interview.  

They explore topical issues, personal motivation and interviewee's hopes and fears. The style is informal and conversational, but at times searching and combative when required.

New York mosque leader Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf says he was scared by August protests

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf has led a mosque in New York for 25 years. He was scared by the reaction in August, 2010, to his plans for an Islamic Centre, two blocks from Ground Zero.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf has led a mosque in New York for 25 years and worked to bring faiths together. But he admits he was scared by the fierce reaction back in August to his plans for an Islamic Centre, two blocks from Ground Zero. 

Four months on he has drawn lessons from the affair and is ready to launch a new inter-faith initiative. Carrie Gracie asks him whether he can ever really succeed.
