County council in discussion with Thames Valley Police and "close to an agreement".

The county council says it's in discussion with Thames Valley Police and hey're "close to an agreement to have the cameras switched back on in the future."

Speed Cameras - Oxfordshire's speed cameras could be switched back on.  The county council says it's in discussion with Thames Valley Police and they're "close to an agreement to have the cameras switched back on in the future."  The authority says more details will be revealed in "future weeks."

Shared Defence - David Cameron and the French President Nicolas Sarkozy will sign an historic treaty at a London summit this lunchtime - promising greater co-operation on defence.  Under the fifty-year deal, Britain and France will share the use of aircraft carriers and nuclear testing facilities and create a joint rapid reaction Army force.

Bravery Award - Last February Wayne Ford and Will Oliver were on their way to work when they spotted skid marks in the snow and saw an overturned car in a stream in Cuxham. The driver escaped with only minor injuries.  The pair have been recognised for outstanding courage in the face of overwhelming danger - and been awarded Oxfordshire's Chief Fire Officer's Commendation for Bravery

Project Evergreen - Today sees the start of an Inquiry in to proposals by Chiltern Railways to improve the Bicester to Oxford railway, part of the Evergreen 3 project, to allow a new train service between Oxford and London Marylebone.

Cumbrian Shooting - It was an atrocity that shocked the whole country - a gunman who went on the rampage through the Cumbrian countryside. Taxi driver Derrick Bird shot and killed 12 people and injured 11 more. He then turned his gun on himself.  Today sees the publication of a report into how Derrick Bird got hold of the weapons he used to such deadly effect. 

Woodlands for sale - Could some pockets of Oxfordshire's woodland be up for sale if government plans are approved?

Prison Voting - Convicted criminals could be given the right to vote.  The government's set to overturn a 140 year ban on prisoners voting in general elections -- after accepting it can't challenge a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights that the ban is illegal.

Mercers Money - The Royal Mail has released its results today, it could be the one of the last times we here from them before they are privatised so how are they doing?  

Football Money - Footy fans in Oxfordshire are being given the chance to decide how nearly thirty thousand pounds in spent on projects in the local community.
