Janine's Machiavellian side rears its head when Ryan betrays her on her birthday. It's the Vic's grand reopening but Alfie's plans suffer a setback. Carol opens up to Bianca.

It’s Janine’s birthday and Ryan’s planned a day of treats, but the Slater girls have other ideas. Stacey tells Ryan she’s going to change Lily’s birth certificate - if he’s serious about his daughter, he’ll come. Ryan makes excuses to Janine and enjoys his day out with Stacey and Lily. When Kat tells her where Ryan is, Janine’s furious and tells Pat she plans to take Ryan away from Walford. Pat says that Ryan won’t go anywhere with his baby still on the scene. When Ryan turns up with a present, Janine plays dumb and Pat and Ryan are suspicious when she announces that she wants to go to the Slaters’ party. Once there, Janine lets Stacey think that she’s got one up on her and sneaks upstairs into Lily’s room. 

Bianca confronts Carol, who pretends her note was about moving out and not a suicide letter. Moving in with Max is a no-go, he’s got his arms full with Lauren. Later Carol sees a scar on Glenda’s wrist and Glenda admits that she hurt herself when her family were shutting her out, before realising she should leave them and live for herself. Carol’s inspired and the pair decide to become housemates. Bianca finds the empty pill packet and begs Carol to stay when she comes home to pack, but Carol reassures her. Pat overhears them. 

Lauren pressurises Max for the truth about Archie’s murderer. She goes to probe Jack, who tells Lauren her Dad’s just trying to protect her. 

When Jay tells Billy to man up about Julie, Billy challenges Jay’s own bravado. Jay tries to prove himself by asking Lauren out, but she brushes him off.

Alfie’s devastated when Greg announces that the Vic isn’t ready for its opening and decides to have the party at the Slaters’.
