Heather tries to come to terms with her broken heart. Alfie wants to prove himself to Kat.

Darren's extreme measures to woo Jodie finally pay off, and Heather tries to come to terms with her broken heart. Alfie wants to prove himself to Kat - what does their future hold?

Kat hides wads of cash inside a toy dog.  Undeterred by the news of Kat’s pregnancy by another man, Alfie’s eager to be supportive.  Kat is unreceptive to his gestures; still furious with him for events in Spain.  As they argue, Kat realises the toy dog containing the money is missing.  Learning that Mo has taken it to sell along with other identical toys, they frantically try to trace all the toys that Mo has sold.  Alfie tracks down the dog containing the money to Heather.  Claiming that saving his marriage hinges upon the money; Alfie spins Heather a sob story.  Heather returns the money.  Grateful, Alfie gives her some money.  Cash in hand, Alfie heads to the bookies.  Returning to a fraught Kat, Alfie reveals that he placed a bet and doubled the money.  Far from being thrilled, Kat’s furious that Alfie would jeopardise her child’s future by gambling the money.  Alfie assures Kat that he can be an upstanding, reliable father to the child and provide for them.  Kat gives him 24 hours to prove it or she’s gone. 

Darren regrets Max having to forfeit his relationship with Vanessa, but Max confidently assures him that she’ll be back.  His confidence is short-lived when Vanessa insists that she’s going to persevere with her marriage for Jodie’s sake.  Darren and Jodie finally consummate their relationship.  

Heather is despondent in the wake of events with Minty.  Shirley meanwhile is concerned for Phil following Sam’s departure.  In an effort to distract himself, Phil throws himself into work.  Shirley conveys her fears that he’ll return to drugs, but he assures her he’s fine.  

With Glenda leaning on her for money, Roxy insists that she must get a job.  To Glenda’s horror, she suggests the bookies and drags Glenda to meet an amused Carol.
