Prom with the Sydney Symphony under Vladimir Ashkenazy in Strauss, Ravel and Scriabin.

A Prom in which Vladimir Ashkenazy conducts the Sydney Symphony. Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier Suite. Ravel: Piano Concerto in G (soloist - Helene Grimaud). Scriabin: Symphony No 3.

Vladimir Ashkenazy and the visiting Sydney Symphony perform Richard Strauss's lushly romantic waltzes which conjure up eighteenth-century Vienna, and Scriabin's multi-coloured Third Symphony which portrays the cosmic dance between the human spirit and the cosmos. French-born pianist Helene Grimaud joins them for Ravel's Piano Concerto in G, which dances to the rhythms of the Jazz Age. Presented by Suzy Klein.
