Can China forge ahead if economies which buy its exports are hampered by austerity cuts?

With the leading G20 economies promising to cut their deficits through austerity programmes, investors are increasingly looking eastwards for precious economic growth. Many are pinning their hopes on Asia and especially on China and India.

But dangers lie ahead for Asia too. Lesley Curwen talks to one of the gurus of the region, Stephen Roach, the chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia. He is about to leave his base in China to return to the US. He dismisses fears that labour costs may rise steeply in China, but says China's biggest challenges stem from the lingering effects of the global crisis on its largest export markets.

Plus the chairman of Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo, tells Lesley Curwen that Europe's leaders are not doing enough to deal with the eurozone crisis, in an interview conducted in a Ferrari California.

And Lucy Kellaway wonders whether a big dose of insensitivity is a great attribute for a top boss.
