The twenty fourth annual Eurovision Song Contest broadcast from the International Convention Center, Jerusalem, Israel.Israel retained their title, taking the crown for the second time with Gali Atari and Milk and Honey singing "Hallelujah".The voting was extremely close and Israel ended up just one point behind Spain with only the Spanish jury left to announce their scores. Happily for Israel, Spain awarded them ten points sealing their win.It has been reported that Turkey were due to compete in the contest, but withdrew under pressure from Arab states who objected to a predominantly Muslim country taking part in a contest staged in Israel.
