A half hour interview with interesting and prominent people from around the world with a great range of interests and opinions. Each week, one person is put under the spotlight by either Owen Bennett-Jones or Carrie Gracie, the two presenters on The Interview.  

They explore topical issues, personal motivation and interviewee's hopes and fears. The style is informal and conversational, but at times searching and combative when required.

Iranian cleric Mohsen Kadivar talks about the role of the clergy in Iran's politics.

Mohsen Kadivar is a dissident Iranian cleric - and a former political prisoner. Why does he wants to reduce the role of the clergy in state affairs?

Mohsen Kadivar is a dissident Iranian cleric who believes the Islamic Republic of Iran is neither Islamic nor a republic. 

He is strongly opposed to Ayatollah Khamenei, whose post of Supreme Leader he believes should be abolished. 

This week on The Interview the former political prisoner tells Lyse Doucet that he wants to reduce the role of the clergy in state affairs.
